THE undersigned agents, carrying on the business of Fire Insurance, in Canterbury, New Zealand, announce, that in consequence of the very hazardous nature of the recently introduced volatile oils, known as kerosene, paraffin, petroleum, &c., it is deemed necessary to increase the rates of premium on all places of business where these oils are stored or used. In the case of private dwellings, no alteration in the rates at present charged will be made. The following additions will be made to the present scales of rates on all policies issued or renewed on and after the 25th of March proximo. On shops or stores where it is used for the purpose of illumination or sold retail, 7s. 6d. per cent additional. On all warehouses or stores where it is kept in unbroken packages, ss. per cent additional. Not more than 50 gallons allowed 011 the premises.
