THE TOWNSHIP Oft WEEDON. r * ' •«> THE site of this township has been fixed in that ' very desirable locality on the . ; GREAT SOUTH ROAD, immediately adjoining the Accommodation House, at the junction of the roads leading to the Ellesmere District and to the country upon the WaimakarirL WEEDON is about. 14 miles from Christchurch, and adjoins the proposed railway station, which forms one of the boundaries of the town. The land has been marked out in lots of quarteracres and upwards, with 'convenient streets running through it. Ample reserves havfi been made for all public purposes. There-are fetfrof the many proposed townships which present features of a more attractive characteri than WEEDON. It is the centre of the already large traffic for the extensive surrounding country lying between the Rakaia and the Waimakiriri; a considerable population has grown up within a short' distance of its site, and nearly all the ayailable land • adjacent to it has been bought up. There is a fine opening already for storekeepers and artizans—carpenters, blacksmiths, and others i would now find abundance of lucrative employment. A good supply of ,water has recently been obtained by the present oVn« of the property in the adjoin- • ing section. Among the first works contemplated is the sinking of a public well, in the Market place, and it is the intention of the proprietor to open up a lineof road to. the coal fields,' and to establish a depot for the supply of this valuable article of fuel riot only for the convenience of the inhabitants of the town itself, but as an article of commerce for the supply of Christchurch. The situation is exceedingly healthy. MESSRS. J. That of the others £7 10s. per quarter-acre. They will be submitted to public auction at those prices, and if there • is no. advance, will be sold to the applicants, upon the following reasonable terms:— One third payable in cash.
