His dam, Cassandra, made her appearance on the Australian turf in 1847, and in the short period of eight months beat every horse of note then on that turf, the veteran ' Jorrocks ' included—and was admitted by the best judges to be the best racehorse that ever, figured on that turf, and is now pronounced to be the finest brood mare in the colony. Bay Camden's own performances as a racehorse, under all weights, are far too numerous to enumerate, and are of such a character as to have stamped him by universal consent to. be the best aged horse that had ever figured on the Victorian turf. His symmetry, substance, bone, good constitution, and tractable disposition, all recommend him as a sire, either for the turf or the road.
