July Ist, 1862. 2506 CHRISTCHURCH COAL COMPANY. PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT. THE Provisional Committee appointed at the meeting held at the White Hart on Tuesday, June 17, give notice that they are now in a position to receive applications for shares. The capital of the company is to consist of £5000, in 1000 shares of £5 each, of, which sum it is at present proposed that only one-half shall be called up in two amounts at intervals of three and six months. The shareholders will be entitled to receive,coals at the dep6t on the Ferry Road, at a slight percentage on the actual cost. The object of the company is to obtain a constant supply of coals at the wharf, at a price thai shall not be fluctuating, and it is therefore believed that consumers generally will be glad to avail themselves of an opportunity to assist in securing so desirable a result; from: tenders already received the Provisional Committee believe that the price may be at present stated at about £3 10s per ton. So soon as half the capital is subscribed, it is proposed to convene a meeting of the shareholders, and proceed to the election of five directors, with w;hqm the entire management of .the affairs of the company will rest. In the meantime the Provisional Committee will be glad to receive applications for shares, upon which a deposit of 2s 6d a share will be required to defray preliminary expenses. The following is the form:— Gentlemen,—l request you will allot me shares in the " Christchurch Coal Company," upon which I am prepared to pay the deposit on receiving notice of the number allotted to me.
