"EAR-MARKING."

TO THE EDITOE OS THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Sir,—ln our last letter, in reply to Mr. Rhodes, we expressed our determination not to answer any further correspondence on the subject to which he referred, and the perusal of Mr. Rhodes' reply to that letter confirmed us in our decision. After a long interval, however, Mr. Rhodes again raises the question in your columns. His letter, as usual, is full of mis-statements and false insinuations, which we shall content ourselves at present with simply denying; indeed they are already completely answered in our former letters. The course Mr. Rhodes has adopted towards our partners and ourselves has been of the most insulting character, and we feel that we lower ourselves in replying to his letters. We are sincerely glad to find that the matter will eventually be decided elsewhere; there we are fully and entirely ready to meet it, and its further discussion on our part in your columns becomes altogether unnecssary. We are, Sir, yours obediently, L. & W. KENNAWAY. [We are glad to see that our correspondents have arrived at the conclusion that any further notice of this subject in our columns is unnecessary. We entirely agree with their conclusion.—Ed. L. T.]
