The well known ship Matoaka, Captain Stevens, amved off the Heads on Sunday evening, after a rapid passage of 81 days. She sailed from Plymouth 20th of November, and for thirteen days experienced heavy westerly and south-west winds, -during which time had only reached the parallel of Cape Finesterre. Got the ■wind then from the north, and made good progress to the Line, which was crossed on the 28th day in long. 27° 30'W.; had good S.E. trades. On the 2nd of January, passed the ship South Carolina, from Liverpool to Bombay, 54 days, and. next day sighted Gough's Island. Passed the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope on the 48th day. Had from thence to the Snares (which was sighted at midnight on Thursday last) mostly fine weather. In the passage up the coast experienced bad weather, and anchored off the Heads on Sunday evening at 9 p.m., 81 days out. There were three deaths (children) and two births on the passage.
