OTAGO.
(From our own Correspondent.) June 11th, 1860.
The Airedale arrived here on Saturday afternoon, and as she leaves again this day at 3 or 4 o'clock, I send you what few items of news I can gather; everything,- however, is very dull, and the weather this last few days has given us a taste of old father'winter, with the usual accompaniment of rain, hail and snow, malting our roads not very pleasant to travel upon. More rain has I believe fallen during the past ten days than for a year or more previous. _ The Court of Land Claims has been sitting and investigating the several applications; the decisions arrived at will be rather surprising to at least one of the applicants, who claimed no less than 1,066,354 acres more or less, and has had awarded ".to him 889 acres in different localities; the claim of upwards of one million acres giving 695—and the consideration given to the natives having been the enormous sum of £200, and the amount paid for the whole of the claimvS only £351. The usual monthly sitting of the District Court was held last week, but beyond one case of prison breaking nothing of consequence came before the court.
We, have had several arrivals lately, including the Lion from Sydney with horses; the Elizabeth came in from your port on Friday, last, the Bth; The Ariel and Drover, after landing cargo, &c\, proceeded to your port on the 7th. The Cosmopolite and Acasta have also landed a large number of liorses, and sailed again. ; Our Superintendent is absent for a few.'days on a visit to the northern provinces.
The Pirate has not yet arrived, but is hourly expected, and probably she may bring the English roXhe weather still cloudy, damp, and rain.
