The Lyttelton Times.
< Saturday, May 12, 1860. We give up as much room as we can spare to-day to the details of the news received by the Airedale from Taranaki. As willbeseen, they are of an important character, though no fresh collision appears to have occured. The future, however, is as troubled as before, and we can scarcely believe that much time will elapse before another hostile movement oh the part of the natives will take place. .We
aro the more led to fear this, from the statement made and confirmed to us by Captain Johns of the Airedale, that one thousand Waikatos had left the Kawhia district, when the steamer called there, oh their way to join Kingi; and that when the Airedale arrived at Taranaki this important reinforcement had just been received by the rebels. There are a few points which deserve particular attention; but their consideration we must leave for another opportunity.
