We have commercial intelligence from Sydney to the 21st alt. .The following short notice of the state of trade is from the ' Empire ' of the 19fch. :' '- ■ ■•:- >I'^ !> -"■ -:■ - -
The; business done during the last -week does not shew any great improvement in our market; but the .wool teams are.now: /fasjfc.'coming into the city, and large supplies for the country are beginning to be daily withdrawn from the hands of our traders. There is 1 reason to look for a considerable trade after Christmas.—Dec. 19.
Messrs. Mort and Co. held to-day their weekly produce sale. The* quantity of wool offered was large, viz., 364 bales, but there was no disposition to purchase in the absence, of newß from England.,. Several of the large lots were withdrawn, and those sbld, ambunting to about 300 bales, showed'a decline in price of nearly Id.;^ fe. The following were the rates obtained:-—Fleece, Is. 7-Jd. to 2s. l^d.j • New Zealand ditto, Is. 3|d. to Is. B|d.j scoured, 2s. ; 2|d.} handwashed,3s. I^.; grease, 10£ d. to 15.2i4.; mixed, Is. to ; 3s. 7|d.-, skin, L». B|d.j locks, 6d. io 10|d.~Peceaiber' 17* .
