FERRY OVER THE WAIMAKARIRI. Provincial Secretary's Office, Christclrarch, Nov. 29,1856. THE Provincial Government are piepared to receive tenders for the establishment of a ferry over the South branch of the "Waimakariri, at the cuttings opposite the New Ferry House on the North Road. The Government will provide the contractor with a house and 10 acres of land on the South side, and -J of an acre of land on the North side of the river. The contractor will have to find a ferry boat, at least as large as the present boat at Jackson's ferry, together with ropes and all other things necessary to keep the ferry in working order. Tenders must state the rates of fares for which the contractor will undertake to work the ferry. The ferry will be let for three years, and must he established not later than the Ist March, 1857.
