To the Independent Electors of Akaroa. GENTLEMEN,— When I first stood forward (at your request) as a candidate for the honour of representing you iv ihe Pro vincial Council, you may recollect I stated to you my fears, that my duty towards you would interfere with my clerical duties. Those fears have now been fully realized, the difficulty of providing a siii.stitut.c, during my absence tit the Council, becoming every day greater, 1 beg, therefore, forth with io resign the trust, when I cannot perform its duties to your benefit or my own satisfaction. In doing so, however, let me assure yon I shall always feel a deep interest in the welfare of Akaroa, though not her representative. I am, dear Sirs, Your obliged servant, Wii.r.iAM Arr.MEit. Horses will he ttained to the saddle and harness in the most efficient manner at a moderate charge, and he hopes that by his usual attention to his guests, he will merit a continuance of their patronage.
