GENTLEMEN,— When I first stood forward (at your request) as a candidate for the honour of representing you iv ihe Pro vincial Council, you may recollect I stated to you my fears, that my duty towards you would interfere with my clerical duties. Those fears have now been fully realized, the difficulty of providing a siii.stitut.c, during my absence tit the Council, becoming every day greater, 1 beg, therefore, forth with io resign the trust, when I cannot perform its duties to your benefit or my own satisfaction.
