THE Committee appointed by the Council of Colonists to inquire into the best means of completing the communication between the Port and the Plains, invite all persons who maybe able to give any information, or to offer any suggestions upon the subject, to communicate with, the Committee at the offices at Lyttelton and Christenuvch. ALPORT has received instructions to SELL BY AUCTION, at his Store, on Monday, September 22, at 12 o'clock at Noon, precisely, 1 the ENTIRE DRAUGHT HORSE " SAM.1 This valuable Horse was imported into the Canterbury Settlement in July last by Thomas Colciokgh. Esq. His sire was the celebrated horse " Sam,,' imported into Va/i Dieman's Land by the Colonial Government, and his dam •aw imported Cleveland mare. Some of the finest stock, both at Port Philip and Van 3)ieman1s Land, have been bred from the above Horse, and he is remarkably quiet and goodtempered. Also, THE HIDING HORSE "COCKEY," well known in the Port Philip District as one of the fastest trotters and best leapers in that colony. The above affords an excellent opportunity or parties desiring to improve their stock seldom to be met with in the early period of v. settlement.
