CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. Sib, —Your number of Saturday contains an advertisement from Mr. Samuel Taylor, in which-the words ingratitude and injustice are prominent, in reference to a late decision by the Bench of Magistrates. Not being in court on that occasion, I am not prepared, neither is it necessary, that I should express any opinion on the case, but I cannot refrain from expressing my astonishment that my house should have been named as one of those where subscriptions were to be received, when I had not been consulted on the subject previous to.the appearance of your last. On Saturday evening Taylor called on me, and requested I would head a subscription list, when I most positively refused, and further stated, that, with my concurrence, no subscription should be made at the "Mitre." I am, Sir, your obedient servant, George Compton. Lyttelton, April 28, 1851.
