BACHELORS’ BALL.

A Brilliant Function.

The Ball arranged by the bachelors of Arrow town and district, which took place in the Garrison Hall on Friday evening last, was a pronounced success from every point of view. connection with the function had evidently worked diligently, and had spared no effort to ensure the comfort and promote the enjoyment of their guests, with the result that from the opening strains of the Grand March to the • final dance everything went smoothly. The ball had been very prettily decorated for the occasion, and the artistic colour scheme designed and arranged by Mrs H. G. Bruce, which was the predominant feature of the decorations, was the theme of general admiration. The Grand March, which was led by Mr R. H. Stickle and Miss Ross and Mr P. F Cotter and Miss F. Cotter, was participated in by over ninety couples. Supper was served in a large marquee which had been erected specially for the Oceanian, and the ladies responsible for the table decorations are to be comp’imented on the excellence of their work The supper arrangement-* were carried out under the direction of Mesdames I'rnce, Forbes s~nr. Hicks, Roma"?, and W F. Extra-* ' ere played by Misses Scott (Lowburn) McLaren* (Cromwell), S'evenson, and G. Stevenson Mr 0. Edie, assisted at intervals by Messrs Stickle and Cotter, capably di-charged the arduous duties of Master of Ceremonies. The general arrangements in connection with the dance were carried out by the following committee Messrs R Baird, 0. Edie, A. Caiter, L Hunter, A. Partridge, G. Stevenson, and W H Thompson, with Messrs R. H. Stickle and P. F. Cotter as secretaries. At a convenient interval in the pro ceedings His Worship the Mayor (Mr Jchn Reid), on behalf of the guests, thanked the bachelors for their hospitality, and referred to the Ball as being one of the best conducted and successful functions of its kind ever held in Arrowtown. Mr D.
