SPORTING NOTES.
The Otago Central Trotting Club (Alexandra) has been registered by theN.Z. Trotting Association. The Minister of Internal Affairs stated recently that he had received numerous applications for increased totalisator permits, but any extension would have to be granted by Parliament, and nothing could be done until the law was amended. An enthusiastic meeting of those interested in forming a trotting club for Balclutha was held last week when close on 30 were present, including members of the sporting fraternity from Clydevate, Warepa, Otanomomo, and Stirling. It was decided to form a trotting club, tho name of which was left over in the meantime.
