EW ZEALAND RAILWAYS (Invercargill District.) COAL "SAVING. Reduction of Train Services. On WEDNESDAY, 2nd July, 1919, and until further notice the ORDINARY TIMETABLE on the Southland Section will be REDUCED. The ORDINARY TIMETABLE will be SUSPENDED, and the following trains and steamers ONLY will run : Train for Gore will leave Lumsden 7.40 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, arriving Gore 10.0 a.m. Train for Lumsden will leave Gore 4.15 p.m on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. KINGSTON BRANCH.—Train for Kingston will leave Invercargill 8. a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays only, arriving Kingston 3.20 p.m. Train for Invercargill will leave Kingston 10.0 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays only. LAKE WAKATIPU STEAMER SERVlCE.—Ordinary timetable suspended. Steamer for Kingston will leave Queenstown 7.20 a.m. on TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS only, connecting at Kingston with train for Invercargill. Steamer for Queenstown will leave Kingston 4.40 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays only (connecting with train from Invercargill). Steamer for Head of Lake will leave Queenstown 8.0 a.m. on FRIDAYS only, and return leaving Head of Lake 4.0 p.m.; this steamer will work traffic on both sides of Lake as required. For fuller particulars and services on other lines see Handbills or Enquire at Stations. It is urged that, owing to the reduced and limited train service the public restrict their travelling to buou journeys as are absolutely essential. CONVEYANCE OF GOODS TRAFFIC. Commencing WEDNESDAY, 2nd July, and until further notice, the following traffic ONLY will be carried : Live stock traffic to be strictly limited to animals required by butchers for slaughter to meet local consumption. Live stock traffic other than animals for slaughter will not be accepted for carriage. Lime and manures for agricultural purposes, consigned direct to farmers, and ohaff for feeding live stock, but the quantity must in every instance be limited to cover bare necessities. Lime, salt, meat bags for Freezing Works ; lime for tanneries and gasworks. Posts, stakes, wire, seeds, and agricultural machinery consigned direct to farmers. Returned empties (such asjfish boxes, fish casks, butter and cheese boxes, etc.), to be used for conveyance of foodstuff* and other essentials. Shooks for making fruit cases, butter boxoe, cheese crates and casks. Foodstuffs such as meat (fresh or preserved), fish, bread, flour, sugar, jam, tea, coffee, etc. Household requisites such as kerosene, soap, lamps, brushware, etc. ; milk, cream, butter, and cheese; grain for immediate gristing; potatoes and other vegetables and fruit; coal and firewood. Household furniture effects of people moving. Benzine and other motor spirits and any other articles of a similar description under this heading. .Frozen meat and wool consigned direct to ships for shipment. Beer, wines, and spirits will not be carried. Goods for carriage ex coastal shipping will require to confoim to the above restrictions. Goods train services will be strictly limited to the absolute minimum of trains required to provide for the actual provisioning of the different localities. BY ORDER.
