SOLDIER'S RETURN.

Welcome-home Social at (Gibbston. On Thursday evening a most enjoyable welcome sooial was held in the Behool, Gibbston, for Private Joseph A. Kirby who has recently returned from the front. Mr J. Miller presided, and daring the evening, in a neat speeob, welcomed Private Kirby back to Gibbston, and presented him with the customary gold medal, which was pinned on by one of the local young ladies. On behalf of the residents, Mr Miller also extended a weloome to Rifleman D. Oosgrove and Engineer M. Enright, who during the war has seen considerable service in the Navy. Rev. J. Rattray also extended a hearty weloome to the returned men and complimented them on the services they had rendered. Private Kirby briefly responded, thanking the people for their hearty weloome, and for the medal presented to him. He also atated that he had reoeived several parcels During the course of the evening songs were contributed by Mrs Soott, Misses f+ Enright, Cowan, and Ryan, and Messrs Rattray and Dakers. The musio for the dance was supplied by Messrs. J. Dakers and A. Soott (violin) and Mrs Bcott (piano). The accompaniments were played by Mrs Vidal and Miss Kinross.
