Mr F. G. Ninel, local postmaster, is at present on his annual holiday. Mr H. Griffiths, of the Queenstown office, is relieving postmaster. Father Corcoran is at present away on sick leave, and Father Spillane, Dunedin, is in charge of the Wakatipu Parish.

Mrs Johnston, of the Central Hotel, Arrowtown, received word last night that her sou, Gunner Charles Johnston, is on board the Maunganui, to land at Port Chalmers on 21st inst. Rev. R. G. Coats announced at the service at St Paul’s Church on Sunday morning that owing to health reasons ho had tendered his resignation as Vicar of Wakatipu. The resignation takes effect in three months’ time. Mr Coats’ departure from the district will be regretted, as during hia three

years ministry here he has earned the respect not only of his own people but of ail denominations. Mr Thomas Reid, son of Mr James Reid, Arrowtown, who has been postmaster at South Dunedin for the past few years, has received notice of his. transfer to Lawrence. The transfer means substantial promotion, and his many friends here will be pleased to hear of his advancement in the service.

The many friends of Bert Farrant, the young footballer who sustained a compound fracture of the right leg while playing in the match at Arrowtown on the 28th ult., will be pleased to learn that the injured limb is going on very satisfactorily (says the Mail.) Before the business of the annual meeting of the Wakatipu Licensing Committee was proceeded with at Queenstown on Tuesday, the chairman (E. D. Mosley, Esq.), expressed regret of the Committee at the recent death of Mr James Mackenzie, Cromwell, a member of the Committee.—Mail. Advice has been received of the death at Home of the Hon. Etbne Plunket, youngest daughter of Lord and Lady Plunket, aged 12 years* The cause of death was meningitis. Mr Colin Gray returned to New Zealand by the Remuera, and was in Dunedin last week enjoying very much the congratulations of bis many musical and personal friends on bis having come through the war experiences bale and hearty except for the effects of gas. He went away in August of 1917 with the 29tb Reinforcements, and is doing a tour of the Dominion with his wife prior to settling in Christchurch, to which city he is being transferred by the United Insurance Company.
