Turnips should alwavs be cut into small pieces before cooking. When packing, every delicate garment should be wrapped separately. Water in which potatoes have been boiled is good to wash tarnished brass. A small amount of chopped figs will greatly improve a nut and apple salad. Scorch marks may be removed wit!; lemon juice and salt gently rubbed on the place and put in the sun. (Cayenne pepper blown into the cracks where ants congregate will drive them away. The .same remedy is also good for mice.
