Mr Thoma3 Pope has been appointed Census Enumerator for Like County. Dr Emily Seirieberg returned to Dunedin by tbe Wimmc-ra on Tuesday last. Mr T. L. Oswin, officer-in-charge of the Valuation Department, Invercargill, was in Arrow on Friday last. Mr George Sal mo ad, of the Queenstown post office staff, has enlisted, and left yesterday to join the Seventeenth Reinforcements. Mr and Mrs G. S. Edie and Mr R. M. and party motored through to Dunedin on Tuesday. Despite the recent rains the roads are said to be in fair orJcr. Mr Chas. Ross, junr., who had been spending a few weeks in the Catlius district, returned to Arrow on Saturday evening la*t. Mr [loss' health has greatly benefited by the holiday. Word was received yesterday by Mrs T. J. Cotter of the death in Egypt of her nephew, Private John Home, of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces. Private Home was the Bon of Mr and Mrs Wm. Home, and he left Arrow with his parents about three years ago to reside at Eltham (Taranaki). The cause of death was enteric fever, and the sympathy of many friends will be extended to the relatives in their bereavement.
