Mr Alex. Inglis, of Invurcargill, who was for some time headmaster of the Arrow school, paid a visit to this district last week. The Rev. Hubert Blathwayt, of Wyndham. conducted the evening service at St. Paul's on Sunday last. The Yen. Archdeacon Packe, of St. John's, Invercargill, is at present on a visit to this district. The results of the State examination of nurses held in December last were announced on Tuesday. Nurse McKercher, of Wakatipu Hospital, passed the final examination as a certificated nurse. Mr S McSkimming, of Arrow, baa purchased Mrs Scott's fruit and confectionery business at Queenstown* Mr McSkimming leaves for Queenstown on Monday next and his many friends in Arrow will wish him every success in his new venture The Rev. I. K. Hood, D.5.0., of Cheshire, England, to Miss Mabel McGregor, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. G. McGregor, Queenstown. — Mail. Mr W. Lane, representing Messrs W. Lane and Coy., of Dunedin, paid his monthly visit to Arrow on Tuesday. Mr Lane, who is 79 years of age, claims ot be the oldest commercial travellor in the dominion and as he has been representing his firm on the Otago goldfields for 49 years his claim is probably fairly justified. At the military tournament held at Auckland during the holidays SergeantMajor Woods' team won the tentpegging competition. Sergeant-Major Woods was in charge of the local territorials during the week's training recently held at Arrow. We hear unofficially that the district of Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M , is to be changed, and that in future he will not come further south than Milton, and that the Balclutha-Clinton-Owaka-Kaitangata district will be included in the district of Mr 11. A. Young, S.M., who will be stationed at Gore.—Free Press. Mr E. W. burton, of the firm of Messrs Burton and Hammond, solicitors, Auckland, has been appointed a stipendiary magistrate. The Central Otago district will be allotted to him. The estate of the late Captain Oates (who was a member of the Scott expedition) is valued at £28,828 and the whole of it was bequeathed to his brother (states a London Press Association cable).
