The summer meeting of the Southlaud Racing Club was held on tho 2nr and 3rd January in delightful weather. There was a record attendance and capital racing. Much credit is due to the secretary, Mr W. A. Saunders for tho capable way he carried out his important duties. The sum of £29,198 was put through the machine for the two days. This constituted a record. Results:— First Day. At Oamaru races Obsono ran second to Special Foam in the W aitaki Handicap of 130 sovs. Mr Mcßrido has had hard luck with his game little horse in running two seconds during the re© mt racing period.
