TENNIS.
A tennis match between the Arrow and Gibbston Clubs was played at Arrowtown on the 17th inst. Quite a number of spectators witnessed the match. Afternoon tea was provided by the Arrowtown ladies. Although the match ended in a victory for the Arrow Club, some very interesting games were played. Scores : Men's Singles—Dr Thomson beat Leslie, 0-1: Gifford beat T. Leslie, 6-0; Blathwayt beat Kinross, 6-2 ; Duffey beat Johnson, 6-2. Ladies' Singles—Miss Youngman beat Miss Enright, • 6-2 ; Miss Jopp beat Miss Cowan, 6-0; Miss Copland beat Miss Leslie, 6-0; Miss Edwards beat Mrs Scott, 6-1. Mens' Doubles —Dr Thomson and Gifford beat J. and T. Leslie, 6-1; Blathwayt and Duffey beat Kinross and Johnson, G-5. Ladies' Doubles —Misses Jopp and Edwards beat Miss Cowan and Mrs Scott, 6-0; Misses Youngman and Copland beat Misses Enright and Leslie, 6-2. Combined Doubles—Dr Thomson and Miss Jopp beat J. Leslie and Miss Enright, 6-5; Gifford and Miss Youngman beat T. Leslie and Miss Cowan 6-2; Blathwayt and Miss Copland beat Kinross and Miss Leslie, 6-2; Duffey and Miss Graham beat Johnson and Mrs Scott, 6-3.
