Work has been resumed in the various claims after the New Year holidays. More hands have been put on at Macetown, where prospects are exceedingly bright. We heir that in all probability ;i syndicate will [tut a dredge on the Arrow Flat.. Many of the old day miners consider there are rich deposits on the Flat. One thing certain the old hydraulic plant did not give the ground a fait test. Yesterday the ground was by Mr W. iiarrell for Messrs \\C i&UJreU, John Fink, and John Wilkinson,' of Dunedin, who have taken up portion of the ground, for a dredging claim. ■> The ground will be tested immediately with boring lods. A nugget of ol pounds of pure gold has been- found at Taiga, in the' Marblehar district, West Australia. The gol 1 exported from Dimediu for the 12 months was 97,8-Mozs, valued at £",95,809. The sixty-fourth dividend was recently paid by the Waihi Gull Mining Company. Gradually the quarterly dividends have

This is a gratifying feature of the company's operation. The Shotover Quartz-Miiling Company s reef has been let on tribute for 18 months. Mr McDonald, the present manager, is one of the party and will continue to supervise the work for the syndicate.
