The Arrow River Mining Co., (late the Arrow Falls Guy) has just washed up for three weeks work with a yield of 640z lOdwt of gold. This is a highly payable' return. The manager, Mr J. The work of opening up the lode is to be proceeded with immediately, and should i.t prove as valuable aa anticipated a strong company will be formed to work the mine. J. McGowan received several deputations at the Thames. The most important was one formulating proposals for deep level development and a proposal to sink the Hauraki shaft to 1,000 feet, Government assistance being asked. Mr McGowan favored the scheme which was one of importance, and promised to recommend the Government to grant a pound for pound subsidy. A wire from Waihi states that the April Teturns constitute a record—£64,olo from 27,655 tons of stone—making the total output of the mine £15,602,500. The directors of the Waikaka United Gold Dredging Company have declared a dividend (the 31st) of Is per share, payable forthwith. This makes since registration in February, 1899, a return to shareholders of 39s (id per share, or a fcotal of £22,120 on a capital of £11,200. —Gore Standard.
