OBITUARY.

The death is announced in Inver- y l uargill of Mrs Fmily Clare, relict of the late Captain Clare, and mother of Nurse bt Ciaro. of Frani>ton Hospital. P A very old resident of Queenstown, n in the person of Mr A. Clyne, was s found dead in his hut on Thursday last. He was a baker bv trade 2 : resided at Cai’droiia in the early days. Many old residents will re- j member Mrs Hassing as a lady most ' kindly disposed and highly respected. 1 Sympathy v/ill go out to Mr Hassing j in his sad loss. ' It will come as a painful shook to ■ many in this district to learn of the death of Mr Alexander Brown, of Lower Shotover, which took place on Saturday last. Although in ill-health for several months, it was hoped that the late Mr Brown w T ould recover. His demise severs another of the few _ remaining links with early Wabatipu, Deceased gentleman followed farming pursuits in the district for a very great number of years. He was held in the highest esteem, and sympathy with his son in his sad loss will be universal,, The remains of the late Mr Brown were interred in the Frankton cemetery on Tuesday, friends being present from far and near to pay the last tribute of respect to his memory. His age was 69 years. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. J. Wilson, Queens- ; town.
