We tender our deepest sympathy ,td Mr J. Bevin, on the los 3 lie has sua l tained by the death of his mother, which took place at Christchurch on the 20th. Deceased lady had reached the old age of 75 years. Sympathy was widespread for Constable Bonner and family when the news of the death of Mrs Bonner became known. The late Mrs Bonn9r was highly respected by one and all, her quiet and kindly disposition having gained for her many friends. For the last two years the deceased lady'a health had been very indifferent and in a bad turn on Monday morning she passed away. We tender her husband and family our heartfelt sympathy in the heavy 1033 they have sustained. The remains of the late Mrs Bonner were interred in the Queenstown cemetery yesterday, the burial service bei'.p- conducted by the Rev. R T. Mathews. The body of John Kapatzo, an old Snotover miner, who had been missing for somo time, was found close to the Shotovor river on Sunday morning. The deceased, who lived alone, was re-' cently an inmate of the-Arrow Hospital An inquest was held in Queenstown on Monday before Coroner Hotop and a jury of six. From the evidence it appears that deceased was getting water from the river when he suddenly expired from heart disease. The jury retured a verdict that the cause of death was heart disease, and added the following rider :— " That it is desirable in the interests of old and decrepid men receiving the old age pension that the police have the power to remove them, if it is considered necessary, from their lonely surroundings where they may be lying dead for weeks before being discovered." The deceased was a Greek by birth and was between 70 and 80 years of age. He had been mining at Moke Creek and the Shotover for over 40 years. The funeral took place at Queenstown on Monday, the Rev. R. T. Matthews conducting the burial service.
