ARROW BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting was held on Tuesday evening last and attended by Crs Mc.Kibbin (Mayor), Cotter, Homans. Hadley, AlcSkimming, Reid, and Pritchard. The Council, in replying to the Cricket Club, wrote saying it could not make a rebate on the rent of hall. The offer of Mills, Dick and Co., to print- rate-hook at £T 15,s was accepted provided that it is printed up to sample. The action of the Mayor in asking the Daily Times’ co-operation in ende i-’oring, to get a daily t rain service to Dunedin was approved. A leitei was received from Messrs. Turton and Son giving the opinion that two residents were justified in registering; ♦ heir dogs in the County.
A letter from Stone Son and Co., regarding a directory was held over. Or Romans said that when tho late town clerk died the Council decided to write tho widow a letter of condolence. This was not done, possibly through the change of office of town clerk.—lt was decided to have the letter forwarded, as it had bean overlooked. Cr Romans said Mrs Wesley Turton had kindly offered some fancy shrubs and trees to tho Borough.—He would move that Mrs Turton’s offer be accepted with Mhanks. This was seconded by Cr Hadley and carried unanimously. It was decided that Mrs Turton bo also thanked for tho gift of books for library use. After paying accounts to tho amount of £ls 19s 7d, the overdraft at the Bank was eported to bo £265 14s. A vote of thanks to tho chair closed the meeting.
