SPORTING NOTES.
[By Peeping Tom,] The Dunedin Jockey Club has re-. moved the disqualification off all persons and horses taking part iu the: Wanaka races last March. Mr Stead’s horses ran no less than six seconds at the C.J.C. meeting. Mr Pope’s Ringman failed to secure, a win at Ri\ r erton. This was hard-luok for Mr Pope, as he is a genuine sport. Achilles put up a record in the Challenge Stakes of 1.27 for seven furlongs. Gladsome prevailed in the All-aged Stakes at Eandwick, beating Lady Wallace—thus revenging her former, defeat. Cross Battery, winner of the GreatFaster Handicap, is by Stepniak— Firecross, was bred by Mr J. F. Reid, and was sold when a yearling to Mr Gregg for 90gs. She has certainly paid Avell.
