ASSESSMENT OOUKT FOR LAKE COUNTY. -■» (Before F. J. Burgess Esq., Judge.) Loif* Star Dredging Company objected to the valuation of their mining claim. Mr Black appaarsd on behalf of the County, Mr Turton, for objector*, said the claim was nearly all worked out, and application had been made to surrender the claim. He considered the valuation of £2OOO too ranch. When the claim was pat on tha market some considerable time ago, it only brought some £25 Eridencc was given by Charles Melton, manager of the Lono Star Company, in support of the objection. The ground would not be 'worth buyi»g if there was not a dredge on it. By Mr Blank : Since he took charge in February cf last yoar the amount of gold won was 418oz. He was not aware that the valuation was made on tho property as a going concern. By the Court; Taking claim and dredge altogpfchpr, the property, when things were looking bad iu December, b* thought could be bought for about £3OO Evidence was given by Mr Black that the valuation had been reduced to ' £ISOO.
