MILLERS FLAT ANNUAL SOCIAL

Friday evening last was eminently favorable to the holding of the annual social in aid of the Miller's Flat school. People showed their appreciation of the good weather by turning out in unusually large numbers, thereby 'constituting the affair a financk; success. In fact, it was in e\ ery way, one of the most successful entertainments which has been held at Miller's Flat, and the residents are to be congratulated on having attained their object. Special commendation is due to the management committee, which included Mesdarnes Dagg, M'Kinlay, R. Hunter and Cumraing. The abundance of gooi cheer, not to mention the kindly manner.-in which it was dispensed, amply testified to the excellence of their management. The secretary—Mr Gumming—who also acted as M.C. for the dance, worked all through with untiring energy. Excellent music was supplied bv Mr H. Anderson (violin), assisted by* Mrs Elliot and Misa Allan. During the evening song* were rendered by Mrs Elliot and Messrs Meek, Anderson, and Dagg ; also recitations by Messrs Meek and M'Kanzie, Mr Gumming?, in thanking those present for the very liberal manner in which they had responded, said he had much pleasure in knowing that the school funds would be considerably augmented.
