WILD TIMES IN THE ARCTIC.

The famous Polar hunter and explorer, Hagerup, who with six men wintered in Spitzhergon, in order to hunt there, has returned to Berlin, xle relates (says the ‘ Standard's correspondent) that fearful weather prevailed there last winter, and that, the thermometer sank to forty-three degrees, Celsius, below zero, and the quicksilver froze. Storms and bad weather continued nearly the whole winter. At first the expedition stayed on Axel Island, but moved to Marten’s Island at the beginning of this year. Hagernp’s bag consisted of seventeen bears, fifty foxes (including eighteen Arctic ones), and one, walrus. Two other expeditions besides Hagerup's also wintered in Spitzbcrgen, one of which secured 150 foxes and one Polar bear. Some men of this expedition suffered from scurvy. From the third expedition no news has as yet arrived.
