WEEK'S MINING NEWS.

The manager of the Arrow Falls Gr.M. Oo , Mr Jas. Miller, came down yesterday with lOloz of gold, similar in character, rather heavier in fact, to what has come down before—fine heavy, shotty gold—some pieces large enough to be called nuggets. The company have overcome tremendous difficulties and it is much to be desired that they should have a long run of similar returns. —Southland Times. We understand the above return was for 13 days. Apparently the Arrow is still rich. The Shotover Quartz Mining Company Skipper's Point, has got to work again. It is expected that during the coming season this company will set at re3t the great problem whether or not Ocago quartz lodes live to great depths. There aie stiil 200 ft to drive to settle the question definitely. Should the lode be met in the place where, according to recent survey it is due, it will have lived upwards of 1000 ft in vertical depth. As it is the machine level has proved that a new lode came in nearly at that; distance from the grass, without showing any indication at the surface.—Mining Journal. DREDGING RETURNS. oz. dwfc.
