Rain falls more frequently between three o'clock and eight o'clock in the morning than at any other time during the day. On 172 miles of its line the St. Uothard Railway has 324 large, bridges and 1,060 artificial structures. The line cost £66,000 a mile. In Berlin they have luminous: name-plates fitted up at the street corners.
