A £IO,OOO STEAL.
MELBOURNE, August 29. A deficiency of about £IO.OOO has been discovered in the Melbourne University funds. Fred. T. J. Dickson, the accountant, through whose hands the moneys passed, was arrested after an examination of the books. Dickson will be charged with embezzling sums amounting to over £4.000. It is reported that the defalcations have extended over a period of fifteen years. Racing is supposed to be the cause.
