A Scotsman was once travelling in Morocco, and came in contact with the Court. Kaid Maclean's European features encouraged him to approach him in quest of information. Being a linguist, the traveller thought lie could make himself understood. He first tried French. Here was no response. German and Italian also failed, and at last he said in a half-subdued tone: '' Am stuck noo." Guess his surprise wben Maclean replied: "Na 3 T e'ro no. Hoo didna yt> speak yer mither tongue?" A Blackburn mail was fined 20s and costs for refusing to fill in the census paper. Defendant is the head of a small body in that town who claim to be disciples of Count Tolstoi. He refused to fill up the paper- on religious grounds, because coercion was used.
