Her Majesty's Dogs.
Tho " Ladies' Kennel Journal" eontains a further instalment of the account of " Queen Victoria's Dogs." 'lnhere are two kitchens and a hospital attached to the kennels. The dogs liasve throe paddocks, called the Collies' Court, the Spitz Court, and the Umbrella Court. The paddock grass is kept closely:mo\vn. Among the dogs are a batch of collies. two Irish terriers, Dacdis dogs. Darmstadt pugs. Skyes, and Italian Spitz dogs. It appears that the Queen'* great favourite is a collie named Darnley. that she does not care for toy dogs of less than 6tb. weight, amd that she never falls into the common error of speaking of Dachs dogs as Dachs hounds, since " hund" is not in that sense t<> Englished into " hound." Many people also err l>y calling Spitz dogs Pbmeranians, but the Queen never does. One Spilr. named Marco, is a personal companion of the Queen, and travels with the Court. Marco was a prize-winner in the Kennel Club show of IS3I.
