Gibbston.

(lake county press correspondent.)

The school closes o id Friday next for six weeks’ holidays. The dredge at Victoria Bridge is about finished and will be ready for the machinery in a day or two. Crops of all kinds are looking well, especially winter oats but are indued to be shorter than in former good years. Probably on account of the cold spring. The fly is making sad havoc with the turnip crops and to all appearances some will have to be re-sown.

la the way of gold-mining there is n 'thing startling to relate. There are one or two new ventures but it will be some time before there will be any result. Gibbston was enlivened with a wedding last week, Mr J. Caithness being united to Mrs A. Cowan. Mr Blair performed the ceremony.
