The s.s. Invercargill, which arrived at the Bluff from Preservation Inlet on Friday evening, conveyed to town close on 100 passengers, consisting principally of miners who have come over to spend the Christmas holidays. She also had on board 5580zs 6d wts of gold from the Morning Star mine, the result of four weeks’ crushing. The amount of stone operated upon was 323 tons, and the value of the yield is £2290. The total return from the mine is 89030zs from 7167 tons of stone, the value being £33,922. —News. The Waihi Company treated 3480 tons for a return of £12,475 fer four weeks.

Mr 0. S. Reeves reports a return of 220z 12dwt 15gr from the Enterprise dredge for last week. The Waikaia correspondent of the Tuapeka Times reports that the Argyle Company’s ground at Waikaia is giving excellent yields. Last week the returns were 60oz, and the average is well up to 50oz a week.
