Mr James Hewitt, who has been employed on the Upper Waipori Company’s No. 1 dredge for some time, has been appointed manager of the Clyde Dredging Company.—Dunstan Times. The four week’s return from the Waihi mine is £9208 worth o£ bullion from 2220 tons of ore. The Dunstan Times says the Ngapara dredge obtained 71 ounces last week. This dredge has very few stoppages and puts through an enormous quantity of stulF. The Otago Gold Dredging Co. obtained of gold for 6 days’ work. The return from the Enterprise Dredge (Alexandra) last week was 13oz sdwts. The AYaimea Plains Review reports that Messrs Peasey and Son are promoting an undertaking to cut a large water-race to bring in water from the Little Dome, a distance of 12 miles, to work Blackman’s Terrace, above Cattle Flat, which are well known to be highly auriferous, but not capable of being profitably worked hitherto on account of the want of water.
