I suppose, Mr Editor, you will have imagined that ere now “your own” has become defunct, or else that something serious has happened in some other direction, ns you have not heard ifrom him for so long. Such, however, is not the cas , but so little of importance has transpired here during the past month that it has not been worth chronicling. On Saturday, however, a cricket match between the Pembroke and Cardroua teams was played, which resulted in an easy win for the latter club. The scores are as follows : Cardrona —First Innings. Thus it will be seen that Cardrona won the match by an innings and 40 runs, A very friendly spirit characterised the game throughout. A dance was held in the evening, but tire Pembroke people were unable to stop. I hear that the Catholics of Cardrona have purchased the hall at the All Nations’ Hotel from Mr Willoughby, and intend converting it into a church. It TfiU be something for Curd reunites to
be able to say that they now possess a church. Mining is in a very bad way indeed ; but little gold is being got, and the outlook for"the coming winter ia very bad.
The Arrow second eleven have challenged Oardrona for a match to be played at the latter place on Wednesday next.
