The trust that’s given thee guard, and to thyself be Just.
Jnnjr Alexander, an Auckland lawyer, held £4,000 belonging to an estate, and the trustees made repeated applications for the money, all 6f which lie avoided by specious promises. Finall yhe was given until Friday last to pay up the money under penalty of being arrested. On Friday morning Alexander was a dead man. Two doctors gave the certificate of death—disease of the livt-r and brain. Another doctor, however, said the post mortem examination that had been made proved nothing, as the contents of the stomach were lost. How convenient a loss! The manner in which certificates of death are given has its ludicrous side. It has happended before to-day that a doctor has simply killed his patient from want of skill. The certificate is nob a truthful document in such a case. However, we see that a fresh examination is to be made in Alexandra’s case, and that the contents of his stomach are to be analysed by the Government analyst. They were conveniently lost and conveniently found it would appear.
