'J'HE PUKE-BRED CLYDESDALE ENTIRE HORSE, DEFIAKCE FVEFIAN’CR is a dapple bay, standing J-/ 16-| hands high, with immense bone and’substance. He is rising three years old. and is acknowledged to be the best Colonial-bred horse in Australia and New Zealand. 1 <iiFi,w.'CE is by Crawford’s Lord Clyde—dam, Maggie. Maggie, by Baron of Qlenlee out of Mag Ist. Lord Clyde was bred by D. McFarlaue, Esq,, Toir, Helensburgh, out of his- bay mure Jesi, granddam Tibbie, grandsire Clydesdale Tam. g. grandsire Old France. Eord (,’lyde was got by Emperor, grandsire Sir Walter Scott, g. grandsire Old Fnnee, gg. giandsire Old Clyde, Loid Clyde obtained the following prizes in Scotland a hen one year old ;—First prizes at Hishopbriges, Kirkintilloch, Kast Kilbride, Johnstone, and first prize for the beet yearling colt of the Clj dendale breed. When two years old he obtained first prizes at Barhead, Johnstone, and Renfrewshire and second at the Highland Society’s Show. When three years old be obtained a prize of L4O • for the best stallion of Clydesdale breed (open to all ages), and first prizes in two classes at the Highland Society’s Show. Lord Clyde has proved himself a sure foal-getter, and one of the'finest sires in the world; his Stock carrying away last year more prizes for yearlings than any other sire in ti.e colony,. The first and second prize colts at Sandhurst, the first and third prize fillies at Sandhurst, the first and second prize colls at Kyneton, first and third prize fillies at Kyneton, first prize colt at the Grand National, Melbourne (which was sold for 300 guineas to go to Adelaide), and the tirst-'pivze filly at the Grand National, Melbourne. The above prize-takers are ail Lord Clyde progeny. Maggie was once exhibited as a yearling when she received second prize at Smeaton As a three-y ear old was first at Ballarat, Smeaton, and Myrniong shows. In 1873 she received first at Smeaton as dry mare, first at Ballarat as one of a pair, and second at Kyneton for dry mare. In 1875 she gained first prize at Kyneton for brood mare, and Champion Cup for best animal in Class A, capable of producing its kind, in a Class of 36 entrh s. In 1876 Maggie gained first prize at Smeaton for brood mare, and Champion Cup for best animal in the yard capable of producing its kind, first at Newstead for be<t brood ma e, first at the National Agricultural Society’s Show, Melbourne, for brood mare, and Champion Cup for best mare or filly (imported or colonial), also Champion Cup for best pair of mares bred in the colony, in conjunction with her half-s-isfer Maggie Clyoe, In 1877, at StawMl Grand National Show, received the Board’s prize of 10 sovs., also Champion prize of 10 sovs. for best female in the yard, first piize at Ballarat for brood mare, first at National Agricultural Society’s Spring Show, at Melbourne, and Champion Gup for best mare or filly in the yard (imported or colonial) ; first prize at Kyneton for best brood mare—her half-sister Maggie Clyde gaining second—in a class of 15; also Champion Cup, in conjunction with her half-sisters Maggie Clyde and Blos-o>n, for the three best draught mares. In 1878 first prize at Talbot for bro id mare, in a class of 13; first at Ballarat for brood mare; first at National Agricultural Society’s Sh >w, Melbourne, and Champion Cup for the best female (any age); also first prize at Kyneton f. r brood mire, and Champion Cup for best female in the yard. the number of Mares to be taken is exceedingly limited, early application is necessary.
