GIBBSTON ANNUAL DISTRICT RACES.

The Gibbston race meeting was held at Deep Creek on Ist instant. The day was cloudy but the rain kept off. The attendance was very fair. The principal event of the day was the Open Handicap, which, after an exciting race was won by Mr Scoles’ Ivanhoe. The rest of the events were confined to district horses, the first of which was the Maiden Plate, 6 Sovs.—Weight for age; distance, miles. For horses that have never won advertised moneys. Mr D. Three ran. After the Hospital Race was run, a couple of foot-races were got off, which brought a successful day's sport to a termination. On Saturday a foot-race and some other sports came off, which wound up the holidays.
