SUCCESSFUL FLOWER SHOW AT ARROWTOWN

The twenty-fifth Annual Flower Show of the Arrowtown Horticultural and Industrial Society was held in the Arrowtown Hall on Wednesday last" and although the entries were not quite as large as former years the display, nevertheless, was quite good taking into consideration the holt dry season experienced. Entries in the vegetables were good the outstanding exhibit being in the section for heaviest marrow, the winner being 35 pounds in weight. The flowers gave a, colourful display. Roses, zinnias, sweet peas and gladioli being exceptionally good. .The Children’s Section, depleted on account of the restrictions, was of a high standard. An outstanding exhibit which created great interest was the “ Willow Pattern ” done on a dinner plait© in the form of a miniature garden. The exhibitor. Prances Dennison, aged 12, showed exceptionally artistic ability and was highly commended for her effort. The cookery section showed poor entries but the exhibits were up to standard. The Industrial section was good and showed keen competition.
