ST. JOHN’S CHURCH
Annual Meeting
The Rev. J. C. Doig presided over a large attendance of the annual meeting of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, held in the vestry last Wednesday evening, September 10. The meeting opened with the Old Hundred, followed by scripture reading and prayer. The Rev. Doig made reference to the Jenkins family who have left the district and to several bereavements sustained by the church, namely Mrs Martin, sonr., Crown Terrace, Messrs John Shaw, Arrow Junction, William Anderson, Arrowtown, and A. Geer, Arrowtown. He thanked parishioncers for the many kindnesses ho and his wife had received from theni during the past 12 ,months and thanked the women who had given hospitality to visiting preachers and church workers. Mrs S. Stevenson presented the report of the P.W.M.U. and Miss Edwards reported on the Sunday School. Miss Payne presented the balance sheet for the preceding year. . The following committee was appointed: — Messrs W. B. Gibb, W. J. Shaw, A. Reid, P. Ay son. W. J. Hore, J. Jenkins, S. Stevenson, J. Reid, jun., D. Mackie, J. Milles, R. Scott, R. Jenkins, J. W. Stevenson, G. Ogilvie and D. Payne, secretary. The meeting closed with the benediction. After supper, provided by the women, Mrs H. McLean and Mrs G. Ogilvie presented a .dialogue entitled “Tom’s Titbits.” Mr G. Ogilvie sang a solo.
