Mrs Murchison lias returned from a conducted tour of of the North Island. * =x= & The Rev. and Mrs P. C. Williams left for Lawrence on Monday. * * * Miss B. Farrant is spending a few days in Dunedin. Mrs N. Christopher was a visitor to Invercargill last week. % # Mr and Mrs R. C.- Robins have gone on holiday. * * * Mr and Mrs B. Yercoe have gone oil holiday. Mr Yercoe will attend a rotary conference at Timaru next week. * * * Miss Pat Mills and Miss Rae Home have returned from Invercargill after a short holiday. Mr James McDonald has left for Timaru to, take part in Grand Opera with his sister, Lilian. * # ft Miss M. Johnston, Columba College, Dunedin, spent her term holidays at “ Tutuila.” * # # Miss A. L. Eider is at present spending a holiday at “Tutuila” before returning to Auckland. * * * Miss Mary Mullholland returned at the week-end from a conducted tour of the North Island. * * * Mr G. Seymour of the Post and Telegraph staff is paying a short visit to Queenstown. « * * Captain and Mrs Herbert returned from Oamaru on Thursday. They were accompanied by Mrs Herbert’s mother, Mrs McPherson. * * * Miss Mary Munro, who has been on the staff of the Bank of New Zealand for some years, has been transferred to the Dunedin branch. * # # Mr and Mrs R. C. Salmond and their two children returned to Tc Awamutu after the term holidays. The Rev. A. Salmond, of Levin, also spent a week’s holiday with his mother, * * * Mr B. Yercoe, of the local branch of the Internal Affairs Department, recently visited Lake Te Anau where he inspected the streams in which rainbow fry have been liberated this year. He reports that in all streams the small fish appear to be doing well. A considerable number of fry are still to bo hatched and liberated.

Rugby Football Alexandra will meet the Wakatipu Rugby team on the Queenstown ground on Saturday next. Bush Fires The Queenstown Fire Brigade was called out to two bush fires on the eastern terrace during the week. Both threatened Queenstown hill but the prompt turn out by the Queenstown Fire Brigade prevented a serious conflagration. Moderator’s Visit The Moderator of Assembly the Rt. Rev. H. Davies and Mrs Davies will be in Queenstown from Friday the 19th inst., for a few days. The Rt. Rev. Mr Davies will conduct the morning service at St. Andrew’s Church and the afternoon service at Miller’s Flat. Following the evening service at St. Andrew’s Church a social hour will be held in the Mackenzie Hall when friends will have an opportunity of meeting Mr and Mrs Davies.
