Otago Wins N.Z. University Ski Championships
With 769.2 championship points Otago University led the field at the New Zealand Universities’ skiing tournament held at Coronet Peak snowfields last week. Run-ner-up was Victoria College with an aggregate of 641.9 points. Canterbury College (639) and LincolnCollege (478.4) followed. Fastest times recorded were: — Men’s Downhill. —R. McKenzie (Victoria College), lOlsec, 1; H. Caplein (Canterbury College), 107.65 ec, 2; R. Wigley (Otago University), 123.45ee, 3. Men’s Slalom. —R. McKenzie (Victoria College), 158 sec, 1; R. Wigley (Otago University), 178.8 sec, 2; A. Cameron (Otago University), 185.65ce, 3. * Women’s Downhill. —Miss R. Adams (Otago University), 167.45 ec, 1; Miss I. Kitson (Lincoln College), 208 sec, 2; Miss P. Bates (Victoria College), 223.25 ec, 3. Women’s Slalom.—Miss I. Kitson (Lincoln College), 107 sec, 1; Miss R. Adams (Otago University), 125 sec, 2; Miss B. Fanning (Otago University), 178 sec, 3. The following skiers were recommended for* the New Zealand University blues on their performance in the New Zealand tournament by the Blues Selection Committee, Messrs H. Wigley, E. C. A.
