MOVEMENT TO RE-FORM

A meeting convened for Tuesday evening last in connection with the above matter, was attended by the following gentlemen :* Messrs A. J, Hill, T. D. Johnson, E. Leech, Geo. Bradly, Osborne, and V. McDonald. Mr Johnson was voted to the chair, and the minutes of last meeting (about two years back) were read and confirmed. Some particulars as to the affairs of the Band were furnished by the secretary (Mr Hill). It was stated that the band property consisted of ten instruments and two drums. All were in pretty good order, and at the present time were worth considerably more than when purchased. A quantity of music, and music stands were also in the Band's possession. Mr Johnson, who stated he had attended primarily as a member of the Town Board, mentioned several methods by which the Band could raise funds. There was no reason why the Band should not become a very live institution if once started again. After further discussion, Mr Bradly proposed that a practice be held on Friday evening, May 7th, at the Star Theatre. This was carried, and it was also decided that Mr Leech take on the conductorship for a month, pending arrangements re this matter. The secretary reported that there was a credit balance of £1 163 Id in hand.
