THE Kaipara Advertiser, AND WAITEMATA CHRONICLE. WEDNESDAY, OCT. 22. 1913. THE TELEPHONE.

i Complaints are numerous und "vvc believe substantially grounded in reference to the inadequate telephone service between .Helens ville and Auckland. In some instances after long and exasperating delay, which means both loss of time and money, local and district people become so disgusted that they go away and leave their business undone, rather than wait about idling for a telephone connection with Auckland. If the present wires are overloaded it is the duty of the Department to effect an improvement; and overloaded the system must be or there is fault somewhere if Helensville cannot get a better service. Why an important district such as this should have to depend on the caprice of Henderson or any other place between here and Auckland for getting its messages through to the city is not very clear ; either HelensYille or Henderson ov both should have separate through wire?, and we have no dojibt but th.it the business i demands arc such as to warrant the latter course being followed, lhe Town Board on Saturday decided to approach the Department to give Helensville two separate wires to the city, but although Aye do not kucnv whether the requirements arc such as to make this necessary at present we are sure there is need for one separate Avire for Helensville, and Aye think the matter should be brought to the notice of the Hon. Minister without delay, as the piesent inefficient service is. most unsatisfactory.
